Buying a Used IPOD

BUYING A USED IPOD

Buying a used IPOD has its pros and cons. If the IPOD has been refurbished professionally then it should be in good working order and come with a satisfactory warranty and money back guarantee. However, simply buying a used one does not guarantee anything, especially when bought elsewhere.

When purchasing a used IPOD from an unlicensed vendor, a yard/rummage sale, or flea market has its benefits because the prices are guaranteed to be very low. However, you may run into some of the following problems:

  • The features may not be comparable to other IPOD versions
  • You may not get the features you want
  • You may not get a guide or operating manual
  • Your purchase may not be compatible to your computer or laptop
  • Your purchase may not be upgradable
  • Your purchase may not have a warranty or guarantee
  • You will have no proof of prior damage or current faults
  • You may not be given the opportunity to test it
  • You may be given a faulty battery or no batteries
  • The IPOD may have software problems
  • The IPOD may be password protected and you have no way of accessing its software
  • The IPOD may have aging parts that are not obvious
  • Audio upgrades may not be available
  • The working memory may not be what you need
  • The IPOD may not be able to take current new memory cards
  • The LCD screen may not be working properly or have poor lighting
  • The IPOD may not track files
  • There may be no suitable user/transfer interface
  • Compatible software disks may not be available
  • The IPOD may not be able to operate copyright protected files
  • There may be no battery indicator or it may no longer work
  • The IPOD may have no random playing feature
  • The IPOD may not have an automated power down feature
  • The IPOD may not come with an arm band/belt clip
  • The IPOD may not be water resistant
  • It may be old

When you buy a used IPOD, you have no guarantees that the product you are getting is in full working order and if anything goes wrong or if parts need replacing, you will run into the hassle of having to pay out more money to accommodate these potentially difficult, annoying or unsolvable problems.
