What No One Ever Told You About a Refurbished IPOD

A lot of people are now investing in IPODs, and some are choosing secondhand ones. However, what no one ever told you about a refurbished IPOD are the risks you run of getting a faulty device, poor customer service and warranties that do not cover the same things as new ones do.

There is nothing more frustrating than buying a refurbished IPOD from a so-called reputable vendor, which displays the Better Business Bureau symbol, but sends you a faulty device. It is important to understand that displaying that symbol does not guarantee customer satisfaction, it just says that they have had not had any complaints or recent ones so far. These vendors may even claim to have perfectly sound refund policies, guarantees and the best warranties, but in reality, they never come through with what they claim. They may offer to replace a faulty device and send you another one that is not much better or claim that you broke it and it was working perfectly when it was sold to you.

Customer service is a very loose term used in the sales/marketing industry, but not all of them are created equally. Firstly, you should be able to speak to them 24 hours a day, get a real person on the phone, get an address to write to, and have access to them via a real email address. If the vendor is doing their job properly and has refurbished the item according to industry standards then your refurbished IPOD should work exactly as it did when it was new. However, as with any electronic product, parts wear out over time and need to be replaced. Some vendors simply pass the parts because they were working at the time when they received them, but fail to test them for continued durability.

IPODs that are sold with a money back guarantee and a warranty should last at least one year after your purchase, working properly. However, many refurbishments are sub-standard. IPODs contain sensitive electronic circuitry that with continued use will wear down or can be easily damaged by being dropped, moved or even compromised by static electricity when being serviced.

What no one ever told you about a refurbished IPOD is that it is a combination of sensitive electronics, a tiny hard drive that can suffer wear and tear like anything else. The best ones have been properly tested, guaranteed to work.
